Little Button Box

For this piece I have chosen 28 genuine vintage mother of pearl buttons from my collection and stitched them into place in-between tiny applique hearts cut from vintage cotton fabrics held in place with tiny stitches. There are also hand-worked lazy daisies in fine white silk. The buttons are an assortment of different styles and sizes, all beautiful I think, adding shine and texture to the piece which is constructed within a running-stitch background. I love these old buttons and this textural hand-stitched work displays them well. I have called this piece 'Little Button Box' as it is a smaller version of a larger design made in a similar way called 'The Button Box' available to buy here too.
 
The frame is a lightly distressed whitened wood, measuring 7" (18cm) square and the embroidery will arrive with glass in place, corded ready to hang, with my studio stamp on the back. The double depth mount carries the title and is signed.
