Tree of Life

This entirely hand-stitched piece of work consists of a tree made up of individually stitched leaves with tiny white flowers in-between. Two hand-cut miniature applique birds are stitched in the centre with a heart motif between their beaks, representing Mr and Mrs Blackbird, planning their future life together!

I have pieced together a border around the tree from an array of cotton fabrics, in pretty miniature prints, adding a few very small vintage buttons here and there. The textile is framed in a lightly distressed brown wood frame with a little limewax rubbed into the grain giving it a vintage look. The frame measures 9" square (23cms) and the work will arrive with glass in place, corded, with my studio stamp on the back, all ready to hang on your wall.
